Lynx Track & Field run strong at Snow Bird Invite at Illinois College

Jacksonville, IL – The men’s and women’s track and field teams had some early success at the Snow Bird Invite hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL on Saturday.  There were 16 teams represented at the meet with the men’s team finishing 2nd and the women’s team tied for 7th.

Placing for the women’s team was sophomore Ebony Smith (North Chicago,IL) who took 2nd place in both the long jump and in the 60 Meter Dash.  Sophomore Mallory Tharp (Kirkwood, IL) also took 2nd place in the mile.  Sophomore Raytoria Richardson (Joliet, IL) finished 4th place in the 400 Meter Run and the 4×400 Relay long with Sophomore Lauren Wendt (Watson, IL), Freshman Hatiana Thomas (Calumet Park, IL), and Tharp.  The relay team finished in 8th place.

On the men’s side, Sophomore Jared Kern (Machesney Park, IL) and Sophomore Kyle Kling (Loves Park, IL) took first and second place respectively in the shot put.  Freshman Daniel Welling (Monticello, IL) finished 2nd in the high jump.  In the mile, Freshman Brayden Batterton (Delavan, IL finished in fifth place and Sophomore John Davis (Lincoln, IL) finished in eight place.  Freshman Earl Armstrong (Toledo, OH) took third place and Freshman Alex Centi (Palm Coast, FL) finished in seventh place in the 400 Meter Run.  Freshman John Smith (Hazel Crest, IL) was 3rd in the hurdles.  Freshman Dontae Adams (Hamond, IL) finished third and Sophomore Austin Picton (Canton, IL) finished right behind him in fourth place in the 60 Meter Dash.  Sophomore Austin Webster (East Moline, IL) took third place in the 800 Meter run.  Adams also finished in sixth place in the 200 Meter Dash with Freshman Roman Hampton (Peoria, IL) taking eight place.  Davis also placed in the 3000 Meter Run with and 8th place finish and the 4×400 Relay of Armstrong, Sophomore John Lawrence (Wataga, IL), Hampton, and Freshman Daquwain Dunn (St. Louis, MO) finished in 2nd place.

This Saturday, the men and women’s track team will travel up I-55 to compete at Illinois Wesleyan at 10:00am.
