The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at The Bill Smith Invite hosted by Vincennes University on Thursday and both teams placed 3rd in the 4-team invite. There were several Lincoln College athletes that placed well at the meet.
Placing in the 100 was Dontae Adams(2nd), Austin Picton(3rd), and Kameron Aaron(8th). In the 200, Roman Hampton was 2nd and Dontae Adams was 6th. In the 400, Earl Armstrong finished 3rd, Alex Centi was 7th, and David Abejide was 8th. Bryant Lewis won the 800. Deonta Johnson was 6th in the 110 hurdles. Spencer Mellow as 3rd in the steeple with Brody Williams placing 4th. In the 4×100, the team of Austin Picton, Roman Hampton, Kameron Aaron, and Dontae Adams finished 3rd. The 4×400 team of Earl Armstrong, John Lawrence, Alex Centi, and Bryant Lewis took 3rd place. Daniel Welling placed 7th in the high jump while Roman Hampton placed 6th in the long jump. In the shot, Jared Kern continued his dominance with another victory. Also placing in the shot was Kyle Kling 2nd, Trevor Oldham 6th, Torrey Johnson 7th, and Ben Staton 8th. Kyle Kling won the discus while Jared Kern was 3rd and Trevor Oldham was 7th. In the hammer, Kyle Kling placed 6th, Jared Kern 7th, and Torrey Johnson finished in 8th place. Finally for men, Daniel Welling was 7th and Deonta Johnson was 8th in the javelin.
Placing for the women’s team was 100 meter champ Ebony Smith. Also placing in the 100 was Shatavia Lowery 5th, Rylee Davis 6th and Erica Walls 7th. In the 200, Apeasha Ashby placed 3rd with Rylee Davis 6th, Erica Walls 7th, and Mykia Jarrett 8th. Raytoria Richardson was 3rd in the 400 with Jamieria Stennis finishing in 5th, Amber Pierce 6th, and Hatiana Thomas 7th. Mallory Tharp was 3rd in the 800 while Sala Hanne finished in 5th. Mallory Tharp also placed 6th in the 1500. Kassy Dammerman took 2nd place in the 100 hurdles with Mykia Jarrett placing 4th. Lauren Wendt was 2nd in the 400 hurdles and Hatiana Thomas finished 5th. The 4×100 team of Aunyx Ashby, Apeasha Ashby, Kassy Dammerman, and Ebony Smith took 2nd place. The 4×400 team of Lauren Wendt, Sala Hanne, Jamieria Stennis, and Raytoria Richardson finished in 2nd place. Amber Pierce placed 5th in the high jump and Shatavia Lowery won the long jump. Carisma Anderson and Jashmine Jones placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the shot and Jashmine Jones also finished 2nd in the hammer. Finally for the women, Kassy Dammerman placed 3rd in the javelin.
The teams will be back in action on on April 9th at Knox College in Galesburg, IL.
