The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Jim Green Invite hosted by Illinois College. The men’s team placed 3rd and the women’s team was 8th at the 17 team invite. Lincoln College was the lone two year program represented at the meet.
Placing for the men’s squad was Dontae Adams and Roman Hampton in the 60, they were 4th and 5th. Roman Hampton and Dwight johnson were 1st and 2nd in the 200. Dwight Johnson was also 5th in the 400. Earl Armstrong placed 8th in the 800. Tylin Hall placed 2nd in the 60 hurdles. The DMR team of Ed Lopez, Chris Raymond, Earl Armstrong and Brayden Batterton was 5th.
Placing for the women’s squad was Stacia Lee, she was 2nd in the 60. Apeasha Ashby was 8th in the 200. Apeasha was also 6th in the 400. Sala Hanne was 8th in the 800. The 4×200 of Precious Anderson, Jasmine Brooks, Carolyn Porter and Hatiania Thomas was 7th. The 4×400 of Apeasha Ashby, Amber Pierce, Sala Hanne and Stacia Lee was 6th. The DMR of Deanna Anglin, Amber Pierce, Jasmine Brooks and Sala Hanne was 8th. ShaTavia Lowery and Taya Burse were 5th and 7th in the long jump. Carrissa Tinsley and Bralon Mack placed 4th and 5th in the shot.
Coach Herron said,” We knew that placing in a meet this large was going to be tough. We had several athletes step up today and really help the team out. I was please at how well we stayed focused throughout the meet. We now have two weeks to get ready for EIU and make our final push to get athletes qualified for the National meet.”
